Planning granted for £4.5 million B&M retail development in Crieff

Plans for a £4.5 million investment by London & Scottish developments, part of Glasgow-based London & Scottish Property Investment Management, to build a retail outlet at Broich Road, Crieff have been approved by Perth and Kinross Council.

The 29,500-square-foot development will house a B&M store along with a garden centre and 84 parking spaces.

It will create 50 long-term retail jobs as well as 30 construction jobs during the build and fit-out phases. Work will commence in late October and the site is expected to be completed in June 2021.

Crieff is one of several locations that London and Scottish are in the process of redeveloping following their successful acquisition of 14 redundant sites from Tesco in 2015.

Andy Richardson, Director at London & Scottish developments said: “We are delighted to have worked with Perth and Kinross Council to secure the development of this new and exciting retail outlet that complements Crieff’s existing High Street offer.

“This site represents the latest in a series of successful retail developments in collaboration with B+M stores. In addition to securing planning consent recently for a development in Barrhead, we have previously completed retail parks at Cowdenbeath, Aviemore, Cumbernauld and Paisley.”

Rhona Brock of Perth and Kinross Council said: “This will be welcomed by the community of Crieff and surrounding areas. It gives them another shopping outlet that saves them travelling further afield and keeps trade within the town. I hope this would attract many to the area, allowing them to see just what great shops we have to offer on the High Street.

“The development also brings a footpath that will link with the existing public footway. This will be welcomed by many parents and others who use this route on a daily basis, making Broich Road a safer route for everyone.”
