The North End Road site was a former greyhound track that had lain derelict since the 1970s. As part of its 2017-2027 economic strategy, Fife Council had set targets for projects that created new employment in the town and brought derelict land into productive use.

Following the granting of planning consent, groundwork started on the site in October 2018 and construction of a 20,000 sq ft unit for Lidl and a 27,000 sq ft unit for B&M was completed in the summer of 2019. The units were fitted out and ready to trade six weeks later.
